Go Back

Take Me To The Fair

Words & Music by Sid Tepper, Roy C. Bennett

Lyrics:

Take me to the fair
Take me to the fair, don't know anywhere
I would rather be

Let's, go to the fair
We'll walk hand in hand, through Tomorrow Land
Only you and me

*chorus
I wanna see everything, do everything
While we're doin' it all
I'll buy the peanuts and popcorn
We'll have us a ball

You can spend my pay
Crush me in the crowds, I'll be in the clouds
Honey I don't care

Take me there by sleigh
Go, let's get a bite, anywhere you like
But take me to the fair

I wanna see everything, do everything
While we're doin' it all
I'll buy the peanuts and popcorn
We'll have us a ball

Take me there by sleigh
Go, let's have a bite, anywhere you like
But take me to the fair

Take me to the fair, Take me to the fair
Take me to the fair

More info:

Elvis sang Take Me to the Fair in his 1963 film It Happened at the World's Fair. The song was recorded in September 1962 at Radio Recorders. Backing vocals were provided by the Mello Men. The film version of Take Me to the Fair had only a banjo as instrumental backing. Elvis may have rehearsed Take Me to the Fair for his 1968 TV special, although it was not used. Sid Tepper and Roy C. Bennett are the composers.
