Lyrics:

There ain't no use to sit and wonder why babe
If you don't know by now
There ain't no use to sit and wonder why babe
If you don't know by now
When the rooster crows at the break of dawn
Well look out your window baby I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm movin' on
Yeh, don't think twice it's all right

I've headed down that long lonesome road, girl
Where I'm bound I can't tell
Goodbye is too good a word girl
So I'll say Fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I, I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
Oo, Don't think twice it's all right

Take it on

When the rooster crows at the break of dawn
Well look out your window baby I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm movin' on
Yeh don't think twice it's all right

There ain't no use to sit and wonder why babe
It don't matter anyhow
There ain't no use to sit and wonder why babe
If you don't know by now

When the rooster crows at the break of dawn
Well look out your window baby I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm travellin' on
Oh don't think twice it's all right

I'm headed down that long lonesome road, babe
Where I'm bound I can't tell
Goodbye is too good a word girl
I'll just say Fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I, I don't mind
You just sorta wasted my favourite time
Oo, Don't think twice it's all right
Wow

When the rooster crows at the break of dawn
Well look out your window baby I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm travellin' on
Oh don't think twice it's all right

I've headed down that long lonesome road, girl
Where I'm bound I can't tell
Goodbye is too good a word girl
I'll just say Fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
Yeh, you're the reason I'm travellin' on
Oh don't think twice it's all right

Take it on
Where I'm bound I can't tell
Goodbye is too good a word girl
So I'll say Fare thee well

More info:
Bob Dylan wrote and recorded Don't Think Twice It's All Right in 1963 for his LP The Free Wheelin' Bob Dylan (Columbia CL-1986). Later in 1963 the song served as the flip side to his single Blowin' In The Wind (Columbia 42856). Don't Think Twice It's All Right was based on the traditional folk tune Who'll Buy Your Chickens When I'm Gone. Peter, Paul and Mary had a #9 hit with their recording of the song (Warner Bros. 5385) in late 1963. Three years later, the Wonder Who (actually the Four Seasons) reached #12 with their version (Phillips 40324).

Elvis's version of Don't Think Twice It's All Right was the result of a 15-minute jam session at RCA's Nashville studios on May 16, 1971. An edited version (2 minutes, 45 seconds) appeared on the LP Elvis. Two other, longer versions have appeared on record, but the entire 15 minutes have not yet been released.
