Are You Sincere

Go Back

Are You Sincere

Words & Music by Wayne Walker

Are you sincere when you say I love you
Are you sincere when you say you love me too
Oh and are you really mine every day, all the time
I've gotta know which way to go
Will our love grow, are you sincere

Are you sincere when you say I love you
Honey, are you sincere when you say you love me too

And are you really mine every day, all the time
I've gotta know which way to go
Will our love grow, are you sincere

Are You Sincere was written by Wayne P. Walker in 1957 and first popularized by Andy Williams (Cadence 1340) in 1958. His recording reached #3 on Billboard's Top 100 chart. A 1965 version by Trini Lopez (Reprise 0376) didn't do quite as well, reaching only #85 on the Hot 100 chart and #25 on the Easy-Listening chart.

Elvis recorded Are You Sincere on September 24, 1973, at his Palm Springs, California, home. The backing vocals were done by Voice. The original version was released on the LP Raised On Rock / For Ol' Times Sake. An alternate version, without the vocal overdubs by Voice, was released on the single and the LP Our Memories Of Elvis, Volume 1. The single had a 12-week stay on the country chart, peaking at #10.
