Go Back

A Whistling Tune

Words & Music by Sherman Edwards, Hal David

Did you ever notice when the sun goes down
Out of nowhere comes a strange and pretty sound
It's a whistling tune for walking in the night
If you listen you can hear it in the breeze
Specially when the breeze is drifting through the trees

It's a whistling tune for walking in the night
And the murmuring waters sing the song
The echoing mountains hum alomg
The whispering valleys fill the air
With a whistling tune our hearts can share

It's so wonderful to walk beneath the moon
Listening to old mother nature's favourite tune
It's a whistling tune for walking in the night

First album:

RCA EPA-4371, 1962, Kid Galahad

First recorded:

October 26, 1962, Live Recordings Hollywood, California

More info:

Elvis first recorded A Whistling Tune on July 5, 1961, at RCA's Nashville studios. It was slated for Follow That Dream, but was not used. Three and half months later, on October 26, at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, Elvis again recorded A Whistling Tune. This time the song was used in Kid Galahad. It is that version that appears on record. Sherman Edwards and Hal David are the composers.
